Resident Evil Requiem FAQ: Game Pass, Length, Co-op & More

Resident Evil Requiem FAQ Game Pass length co-op 2026 - GamersDignity

Resident Evil Requiem (also referred to as RE9) launches February 27, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam). With a new protagonist, a perspective toggle, and a $69.99 price tag, there are a lot of questions floating around. This FAQ covers the most common questions players are asking before launch.

For the full launch breakdown, see our RE Requiem launch day coverage.

Is Resident Evil Requiem on Game Pass?

No. Resident Evil Requiem is not available on Xbox Game Pass (or PS Plus) at launch. Capcom publishes its own titles and has not put any mainline Resident Evil game on Game Pass at launch historically. RE Requiem is a full-price purchase: $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $79.99 for the Deluxe Edition.

While older Capcom titles (like RE Village and RE4 Remake) have appeared on Game Pass months or years after launch, there is no indication RE Requiem will follow soon. If you are waiting for a subscription service deal, expect to wait at least 12-18 months.

How Long Is Resident Evil Requiem?

Resident Evil Requiem’s main story campaign takes approximately 12 to 16 hours to complete on Standard difficulty. This length is consistent with recent RE games:

  • RE Village: 8-10 hours
  • RE4 Remake: 15-20 hours
  • RE Requiem: 12-16 hours (confirmed by Capcom)

Add 5-8 hours for completionists who explore every area, find all collectibles, and unlock all weapons. A full completionist playthrough across all difficulty modes and unlockables could reach 40+ hours.

Does Resident Evil Requiem Have Co-op or Multiplayer?

No. Resident Evil Requiem is a single-player only experience. There is no co-op (online or couch), no multiplayer mode, and no separate multiplayer component like RE:Verse was to RE Village.

This is a purely single-player survival horror game. Capcom has confirmed this is a deliberate design choice to maintain tension and pacing.

Is Resident Evil Requiem Open World?

No. RE Requiem is not open world. Like RE4 Remake, it uses a semi-linear structure with interconnected areas that you explore, backtrack through, and gradually unlock. Think of it as guided exploration with some freedom, not a Ubisoft-style open world with map markers.

The game features multiple distinct environments connected by story progression. You can revisit earlier areas in some cases (similar to how RE4 Remake handled the village, castle, and island), but forward progress is gated by story events.

Can You Play as Leon Kennedy in RE Requiem?

Yes, partially. The primary protagonist is Grace Ashcroft, a new character to the series. However, Leon S. Kennedy is playable in specific story sections. Capcom has confirmed Leon has dedicated gameplay segments, though the majority of the game is played as Grace.

This dual-protagonist approach is similar to how RE6 handled multiple campaigns, but more integrated — you do not choose a campaign. Leon’s sections are woven into the main story.

What Difficulty Should I Pick?

RE Requiem offers four difficulty modes:

  • Assisted — Generous aim assist, more ammo and health drops, enemies deal less damage, auto-recovery at low health. Best for players new to survival horror or those who want to focus on the story.
  • Standard — The intended experience. Balanced resources, fair enemy damage. Recommended for most players, including RE veterans on a first playthrough.
  • Hardcore — Significantly fewer resources, enemies hit harder, limited saves (ink ribbon-style save system may return). For experienced RE players who want real tension.
  • ProfessionalUnlockable after completing the game once. Extreme difficulty, one-hit kills from certain enemies, very scarce resources. The ultimate challenge.

Our recommendation: Start on Standard for your first playthrough. It provides the survival horror experience Capcom designed without being punishing. You can always replay on Hardcore once you know the layout and mechanics. For more tips, see our beginner guide.

Is Resident Evil Requiem on Nintendo Switch 2?

Yes. RE Requiem is a confirmed launch window title for Nintendo Switch 2. It launches simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC on February 27, 2026.

Performance details for the Switch 2 version are not fully confirmed yet, but Capcom has stated it will run natively (not cloud-streamed) thanks to the Switch 2’s upgraded hardware. Expect 30 FPS at 1080p docked with reduced visual settings compared to PS5/Xbox. We will update this section with Switch 2 performance details after launch.

Can You Switch Between First and Third Person?

Yes. One of RE Requiem’s headline features is a real-time perspective toggle between first-person and third-person camera views. You can switch at almost any time during gameplay via a button press (mapped to a d-pad direction by default on controller).

  • First-person provides a more immersive, claustrophobic horror experience (similar to RE7 and RE Village).
  • Third-person gives better spatial awareness and a more action-oriented feel (similar to RE4 Remake).

Both perspectives are fully playable for the entire game. Capcom has stated that neither perspective provides a gameplay advantage — it is purely a preference choice. Cutscenes play in a fixed perspective regardless of your selection.

What Is in the Deluxe Edition?

The Deluxe Edition costs $79.99 (a $10 premium over the $69.99 Standard Edition) and includes:

  • The full base game
  • Alternate costumes for Grace Ashcroft and Leon Kennedy
  • A digital artbook featuring concept art and development commentary
  • A digital soundtrack selection (20+ tracks)
  • In-game bonus items: a recovery item pack and a special weapon charm

Is the Deluxe Edition worth it? The bonus items are cosmetic and convenience-only — they do not provide a significant gameplay advantage. If you want alternate costumes for a second playthrough, the $10 premium is reasonable. Otherwise, the Standard Edition includes the complete game with no content gated behind the upgrade.

What Engine Does RE Requiem Use?

RE Requiem uses Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, the same engine that powered RE7, RE2 Remake, RE3 Remake, RE Village, RE4 Remake, Devil May Cry 5, and Monster Hunter Rise. The RE Engine is known for excellent performance scaling, photorealistic character models, and efficient optimization across a wide range of hardware.

On PC, RE Requiem supports DirectX 12, DLSS 3 (with Frame Generation on RTX 40/50 series), FSR 3, and XeSS. For detailed settings recommendations, see our best PC settings guide for 60 FPS.

Can I Run RE Requiem on My PC?

Here are the confirmed PC system requirements:

  • Minimum (1080p/30 FPS): i7-8700 / Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1070 / RX 5700, 16 GB RAM, 70 GB storage
  • Recommended (1080p/60 FPS): i7-10700 / Ryzen 7 3700X, RTX 3070 / RX 6800 XT, 16 GB RAM, 70 GB SSD
